Learn about the intersection of psychedelics, physical therapy, and pain management with Tim Evens, a physical therapist specializing in sports medicine and chronic pain. Drawing from both clinical experience and personal insights from ultra-distance running, Tim will explore how psychedelics can support a more holistic approach to physical recovery and pain management.
This talk will examine:
- How psychological barriers can impact physical recovery and movement
- Cultural perspectives on pain and healing, drawing from experiences with the Tarahumara runners and Sonoran communities
- Why some ultra-distance runners with significant imaging findings can remain pain-free
- The evolution from a biomedical to a biopsychosocial model of pain management
- How psychedelic experiences can shift our relationship with our bodies and pain
Tim brings unique insights from 15+ years as a physical therapist, professional mountain biking, and ultra-endurance running. His approach challenges traditional pain management models, exploring how psychedelics can help bridge the gap between physical therapy and psychological well-being.
We will also hear perspectives from other PTs who also work with psychedelics.
This evening is particularly relevant for healthcare providers, athletes, and individuals dealing with chronic pain or injury recovery.
